Windshield Or Car Window Decals: How To Apply Them?

Windshield or car window decals are a great way to personalize the car and show identification or registration information. They can be applied to the windshield, or side and rear windows. However, there are often laws in place about their use on the windshield. These laws, often, do not completely prohibit their use but instead prohibit car window decals use when they impair visibility – such as when they are non-transparent or obstructive.

They are commonly used to add a personal touch to the vehicle and are especially popular among vehicle enthusiasts. They can also be used for advertisement purposes. They can be used to promote websites, business and political slogans, and promotional offers. Furthermore, than can be used to show support for sports teams and charitable causes. They can also be used to express patriotic pride, or pride for a school, city, or town.

How To Apply Them?

  1. The first step is to gather your supplies – the decal, water, paper towels, a sponge, a credit card, and a pin.

  2. Whether it’s the side or rear window, or the top or bottom, the next step is to decide where to place. Some decals may be large enough to cover whole windows.

  3. Once placement has been decided, the next step is to wash and clean the intended window or area with water, sponge, and wipe and dry with a clean paper towel. Swabs of alcohol can be used to get rid of persistent dirt or debris.

  4. Then place this on a flat surface and run a credit card or a squeegee over it. This is done to flatten and smoothen the decal and to remove any air bubbles.

  5. The next step is to slowly and carefully remove the paper or sheet backing that covers the adhesive side of the decal.

  6. Then it is time to apply the decal to the window or windshield. Carefully and slowly bring it closer to the surface and start applying from one side, using a credit card to move across the decal to the other side, applying this in the process.

  7. Now it is time to remove the transfer tape from the decal, leaving just the decal applied to the window surface. If during this process, your custom decals start to peel off as well, the transfer tape should be lowered to flatten the decal against the window again. The process should then be repeated more carefully.

  8. The last step is to use a pin to get rid of any bubbles that may appear. The pin should be used to poke a hole into air bubbles to push out the excess air. Running over the surface with fingers can smoothen it out.

Bonus Step: 9) Now that all the hard work is done, throw all transfer tape into the trash, stand back, and enjoy the view. You can now drive around town and display your intended message. Let the car window Decal express your views, your pride, your beliefs, or your patriotism!
